The Ford Excursion is a vehicle that will go down in history as one of the largest capable off machines to ever exist. Popular Science Magazine was so impressed by this vehicle that they were quoted saying that this was the “biggest sport utility on the planet” The Ford Excursion is a heavy-duty SUV that was manufactured from 1999 to 2005 and built off the Ford F-250 platform. It was created to compete with the popular Chevy Yukon and Suburban but due to low demand it was discontinued.
Years after its discontinuation it started to gain popularity as enthusiasts started modifying it for off road adventures and then it became a formidable foundation for building an overland vehicle for larger families. The ford excursion featured a diesel and gas engine option plus it has 3rd row seating to accommodate larger families. One of our customers was building his Ford Excursion for overlanding adventures so he came to us for off road lights for his excursion.
Best Ford Excursion Off Road Lighting
Our customer’s Ford excursion is heavily modified and includes a lift, roof rack, off road tires, roof top tent and his latest addition, Hammerhead off road bumpers. To get quality Ford off road light bars he came to us to outfit his excursion with affordable and bright LED lights. This off road bumper needed one 20 inch dual row light bar and four LED pod lights.
Hammerhead Off road Bumper Light Bar
Due to Hammerheads bumper design, the light bar must be installed before you mount the off-road bumper to your vehicle. With that in mind, you don’t want to put a cheap amazon or eBay light bar on your rig. While that light bar is cheaper today it will fail prematurely and in order to replace the failed light bar you must remove the entire bumper. So to save you time in the long run its best to install one of our light bars so you only have to do the job once.
Ford Excursion Off Road Light Bar
For the 20-inch light bar we went with the Aurora Classic series 20 Inch Dual row light bar. This Ford excursion light bar produces 17,120 lumens and is equipped with a combination beam pattern. A combination beam pattern has both flood and spot optics built in so when you hit the switch you unleash a beam that goes both far and wide.
To ensure an impenetrable seal the LED light bar is then sealed together with 316 stainless steel screws inserted every 1.5" of surface area which makes it durable enough for the most extreme off-road conditions.

For the Ford Excursion 3-inch LED cube lights we went with two different sets. We did one pair of the Aurora 3-Inch Flood Beam pods and one pair of the Aurora 3-Inch Diffused beam pods.

Excursion Off Road LED Diffused Lights
These 3" Aurora Off road light pods are equipped with a diffused lens that produces a softer light which gives the illusion of the light surrounding the obstacle as opposed to other beams which shine directly onto the obstacle which can create a glare.
This pattern is produced by having a diffuser over the lens which scatters the light to create a softer light. This produces a pattern of approximately 100 degrees wide, with no defined edge.
These LED lights are equipped with a Diffusion Beam which is powered by four,10 watt OSRAM LED's that pump out 3,880 lumens.

Ford Off Road Bumper LED Lights Wiring Harness
Included with this product is a full wiring harness which consist of the following:
- Light Switch: CE Compliant 3 Pin Rocker switch encompassed in a water-proof A red power indicator light will illuminate when the light is on, which is bright enough to be seen during the day, but dim enough so it will not cause a distraction when the light bar is powered on on at night.
- Relay: 4 pin water resistant relay is rated for 12 volts and 40 amps. The relay also includes a heavy-duty mount allowing for multiple mounting locations.
- In-Line Fuse: Industry standard blade-type fuse encased in a water-resistant

Wire: Is wrapped in extra thick thermoplastic insulation. The terminal ends are soldered and insulated in heat shrink tubing to prevent contamination from foreign materials. A rugged PVC encases the wires for a very professional looking installation.
- Wiring Lengths: Aurora provides you with a total of 16 feet of wiring.
- From the relay, you will have eight feet of wiring to the LED Light bar, four feet of wiring to the on/off switch, and four feet of wiring to the battery.
- Deutsch Connectors: The Deutsch connector has a thermoplastic housing design that is sealed to the elements with its signature integrated latch. The integrated latch wedges the terminal pins together in order to create an impenetrable seal eliminating the likelihood of moisture intrusion.
Terminal Ends: To ensure a seamless connection to your vehicle’s battery, the positive and negative battery terminal cables are equipped with soldered ring terminals covered with heat shrink tubing.
